OK OK so the pictures aren’t perfect yet. It’s the holiday season and to say we’re busy is an understatement! But to keep these adorable, amazing dog collars and leashes from you all because we didn’t have time to take a fancy photo seemed, well, it just didn’t seem right!

We want to be sure your dog wakes up on Christmas morning with a brand new, made by Hot Diggity, right here on Cape Cod, collar and leash!

Do you remember Four Preppy Paws? Since 2003 they made the most durable and cutest custom ribbon dog collars and in July, we acquired their company when Heidi decided to sell Four Preppy Paws and focus more on her other business, Dogwood Cottage.

We are so excited to be able to continue to make these collars and leashes because they last, are built tough with thick cotton webbing, and are so cute with their custom ribbon you won’t find anywhere else, they’re perfect for the lap dog too!

Each week until fully stocked, we will be rolling out another ribbon design. Right now we have monkeys hats and mittens and will soon have anchors, hearts, boats and buoys, bloom, frogs, turtles, alligators, flip flops, stars, golf carts, ACK, Nantucket, Cape Cod and 4 brand new designs coming this winter!

Now through Christmas Eve, get 20% off any new collar or leash when you bring to either store, a clean, gently used collar or leash to donate. We will donate all collected items to the MSPCA in Centerville on Christmas Eve day.

Collars and leashes are available at both Hot Diggity in Mashpee Commons and Hot Diggity Dog Wash & Boutique in Dennisport and of course, right here online.

Now start shopping!!! :)

Coo Coo for Co Co coconuts that is

coconut oil is back!

Alas, the coconut oil that has all us gals and our pups addicted has returned to the shelves of the Digs. We add coconut oil to our dogs food, to our food, we use it as a moisturizer, as a hair conditioner, as sunscreen (yes! sunscreen) for cooking, for smoothies and the list goes on and on. Because it is made up primarily of medium chain fatty acids, it is more likely to be used as energy than stored as fat. In fact, a few studies in the 1940s showed that farmers tried to use coconut oil to fatten their livestock, only to find it was helping them to slim down.

Here are the top reasons you should be giving your dog coconut oil:

Skin conditions:

  • Clears up skin conditions such as eczema, flea allergies, contact dermatitis, and itchy skin
  • Reduces allergic reactions and improves skin health
  • Makes coats become sleek and glossy, and deodorizes doggy odor
  • Prevents and treats yeast and fungal infections, including candida
  • Disinfects cuts and promotes wound healing
  • Applied topically, promotes the healing of cuts, wounds, hot spots, dry skin and hair, bites and stings

Digestion:

  • Improves digestion and nutrient absorption
  • Aids healing of digestive disorders like inflammatory bowel syndrome and colitis
  • Reduces or eliminates bad breath in dogs
  • Aids in elimination of hairballs and coughing

Immune system, Metabolic function, Basic health

  • Contains powerful antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal agents that prevent infection and disease
  • Regulates and balance insulin and promotes normal thyroid function
  • Helps prevent or control diabetes
  • Helps reduce weight, increases energy
  • Aids in arthritis or ligament problems

Our 100% pure, kosher, organic

virgin coconut oil is so good, we buy it from a human food company, so you can treat yourself as well :)

Ripple’s Escape

check your fences and answer unknown phone number calls. I got a phone call this morning from an unknown number. I only answered because the gas company was supposed to be calling to tell me when they would be here to check our meter. Otherwise I would have let it go to voice mail that I never would have checked. The call went something like this:

lovely angel woman: “I think I have your dog Ripple. I got your number from his tag on his collar.”
ME: Hum, I thought. That’s funny, there is another dog out there named Ripple and my phone number is on his tag. It’s definitely not MY dog because I just let them all out into our 1 acre triple split rail fenced in yard, as per usual morning routine.
Lovely angel woman: “he is very friendly and was running down the road and I pulled over and opened my door to call to him and he came running at me, leaped over me and into my car. Boy he is a really good jumper”
Me: heart pounding, wait this sounds like MY Ripple, because he IS a really good jumper. “Is he a Golden Retriever?!”
lovely angel woman: “I think so. A big, friendly one who is sitting in my lap and  licking my ears.”
Me: “Oh My God that IS my Ripple!”
After a near heart attack I went and picked him up. I’ve returned many found dogs, but never lost one. He is unscathed but took about 10 years off my life. After thanking lovely angel woman to the point where she asked me to please stop thanking her, I went home and checked the fence. There is a perfectly dug hole done with the preciseness of a prisoner who knows he only has one chance to make his break. I’m blaming the temptation to flee on the family of rabbits that lives on the other side and two days stuck inside because of the Nor’easter.
So when your dogs are off frolicking and you think they are playing so nicely with each other because it is quiet as night, they are really out executing their master plan of escape. Ok, Ripple. Game on! This place is going into lockdown!!

Boy, I’ve been saying sorry a lot lately…

The Shed-less program has arrived!

And just in time for the big shedding season!

The Shed-less program has arrived! Using special grooming tools and products geared toward loosening and removing dead overcoat, blown undercoat and guard coat we can help keep your house and clothes 90% free from pet hair.

A dog’s skin cells regenerate every 35 days at which time it releases his coat. The best time to capture all the shedding hair is just as the coat is being released. You may notice these past few days that your dog has begun shedding more than normal. This is because while dogs do shed year round, they blow their coat most heavily in the spring and fall, as they get ready to grown in their summer and winter coats.

Do your dog and yourself a favor and sign up for our shed-less program. If you follow the program and have your dog groomed every 5 weeks, our shed-less program will reduce your pet’s shedding by 90%.

Not sure about it? Give it a try and mention this post for $10 off your first service. You’ll notice the difference right away!

Call Hot Diggity Dog Wash & Boutique now to book your appointment and start enjoying all the benefits of the Shed-less program. Your dog will thank you!

Dog Shedding and How to Decrease It!

We have a new program we are about to launch: it’s called “The Shed-Less Program”. We’re not going to give away all the details right now, but should you choose to participate in the program (and if you have dog hair all over your clothes, house, furniture and car, we suggest you do!) you will notice an approximate 90% decrease in shedding. What does that mean? 90% less hair on your floors, your furniture, your clothes and your cars. What else does it mean: ultimate comfort for your dog, especially in these hot summer months.

Stay tuned, we’ll have all the details for you soon! Until then, enjoy this picture of Sam after his grooming. Could he be any cuter? I don’t think so!!!
